You create a melody distilled from pure grief, conveying the inevitable loss of everything your target cherishes, audible only to them.

The target must make a Wisdom saving throw, taking 10d6 Psychic damage and potentially becoming

Exhausted
. Levels of Exhaustion granted by this ability are reduced by 1 at the end of each of the target's turns.

This spell can also apply a curse. While cursed by this spell, a creature cannot benefit from Advantage or any effect that grants a numerical bonus to it (excluding bonuses from items; for example, it cannot benefit from the +2 AC bonus from the

Protect
condition, or the effect of Bardic Inspiration from the Bard class). If a spell or effect attempts to remove this curse and it is of a lower spell level than 8th, then it must first succeed on an ability check using the spell or effect's ability score against a DC 18 in order for the spell or effect to succeed in removing the curse.

Critical Success (+10). The target is unaffected.
Success. The target takes half damage and receives 1 level of Exhaustion. The target is also cursed until the end of its next turn.
Failure. The target takes full damage and receives 3 levels of Exhaustion. The target is also cursed for 1 week.
Critical Failure (–10). The target takes 1.5× damage and receives 4 levels of Exhaustion. The target is also cursed indefinitely. While the curse remains, the target's allies also receive the effects of the curse while within 6m of it.
